With the growing need to share information globally, the library has set up a programme through which various participants and stakeholders are brought together to exchange and share knowledge and experiences.
Under this programme, the library has also created linkages through which information resources including books and computer systems are donated to the library from both overseas and local donors and distributed to a selected group of beneficiaries.
Major beneficiaries of the community outreach programme include Shanderema Secondary School, St. Ignatius Mukumu Boys Secondary School, Philma Academy Matete, Shagungu Secondary School, Shinyalu Community Resource Centre, Lirhanda Girls School and Lwanda Secondary School among others.
With funding from the Commision for Higher Education, the Library is also running an innovative community based research project Expanding Access to Smallholder Agricultural Information through Media Strategies for Sustainable Productivity in Shinyalu Division whose aim is to enhance focused information management and transfer at the community level. As a result a resource centre with internet facility has already been set up and the establishment of a village FM radio station is near completion. A proposal for a complementary research project has been submitted to CHE for funding
